Three Sticks Wines

There’s a lot that’s unique about Three Sticks Wines. First and foremost is the holistic and hands-on approach to winemaking. Three Sticks owns six Grand cru level Estate vineyards in Sonoma County, meaning they make all their wine from grapes they own and farm. Known for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, their intimate relationship with each property (you will recognize names like Durell and Gap’s Crown) shines through in each of their wines.

To show-off these iconic locations, Three Sticks knew they needed a winemaking team up to the task. Bob Cabral has been the Director of Winemaking since 2014 and is known for decades of experience, most notably at Williams Selyem. He crafted the first Pinot Noir to be awarded a perfect 100 points and has earned Wine Enthusiast’s Wine Maker of the Year award. Ryan Prichard joined on to work with Bob Cabral at Williams Selyem making world-class Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. At Williams Selyem, Ryan was able to see how working with great vineyards along with a meticulous winemaking style can produce inspiring results. After experiences winemaking at Punchdown Cellars and Medlock Ames, Ryan joined Bob at Three Sticks Wines as Winemaker. He is excited about crafting wines with character and finesse that showcase the unique attributes of each of the six Grand cru level Estate vineyards.

And to tell the story of each special wine, there’s Three Sticks’ historic tasting room. The Adobe opened its doors in 2014 after two years of restoration and is one of the few remaining buildings from California’s Mexican era. Designed by Ken Fulk, the experience is a block from Sonoma’s famous plaza, but feels like a world away. Behind all of this is founder Bill Price III (the Three Sticks moniker hails from Price’s days growing up in Hawaii, where his fellow surfers called him Billy Three Sticks). Price owns an impressive portfolio of vineyards and wineries, including Kistler Vineyards, and was formerly the chairman of Kosta Browne and Gary Farrell. As evidenced by the brand he’s created and vineyards he owns, Price believes in quality first, working with passionate winemakers who have their own individual style of winemaking, and who maintain the vision with each vintage and each vineyard. Three Sticks is the union of his vision and experience. Quite a unique experience, indeed.
