Martinelli Winery and Vineyards

The Martinelli family has been growing grapes in the Russian River Valley since the 1880’s. At the ages of 19 and 16, Giuseppe Martinelli and Luisa Vellutini eloped from their small village in the Tuscany region of Italy, making their way to California looking for land to farm and start a winery. Giuseppe had been a winemaker in Italy and with his viticulture knowledge he was hired to plant a vineyard for a farmer in Forestville. Within two years he earned enough money, and borrowed some from a local wood cutter, to purchase land of his own. Working side by side on a 60 degree slope, Giuseppe and Luisa planted a small area of Zinfandel and Muscat Alexandria vines, which later became known as the Jackass Hill vineyard. Over 100 years later, this south easterly exposure remains the steepest non-terraced vineyard in Sonoma County.

To this day, the Martinellis still sell more grapes then are used to make their own wines; about 90% of the grapes they farm are sold to other Sonoma County wineries. Lee Sr. and his two sons, Lee Jr. and George, continue the proud legacy of care-taking the land.

Lombardi Wines

Founded in 2013, Tony and Christine Lombardi began a passion project that honors a rich family history of wine, food and tradition.  Together, with winemaker Cabell Coursey, they craft small lots of chardonnay and pinot noir from some of the finest vineyards in Sonoma Coast.  The Pinot Noir is from a family of growers in Petaluma, where the Lombardi Family has been since 1947.

In 2015 Tony started a boutique consulting company offering Marketing, Public Relations and Wholesale services to the benefit of small to mid-size wine companies in need of this expertise. With over twenty-five years of experience in management, production, sales, marketing and public relations, Lombardi Marketing is a trusted source to the benefit of wineries operating in the luxury wine category. Current and Past Clients include: A.P. VIN, Arista Winery, Flanagan Vineyards, Pellegrini Wine Company, Jigar & Sedition Wines, Ram’s Gate Winery, Roger Roessler Wines, and Three Sticks Wines.

When he’s not busy promoting the incredible stories of exceptional Sonoma County wine, Tony enjoys spending time with his wife, Christine and sons, Andrew and Aidan.




Located in downtown Durham, NanaSteak is the newest addition to the Nana's family of restaurants by executive chef, Scott Howell.  NanaSteak opened its doors in February 2016 in a newly built space located next to the Durham Performing Arts Center (DPAC) and Aloft Durham Downtown Hotel. This restaurant is a vision and partnership between husband-and-wife-team, Scott Howell & Aubrey Zinaich-Howell and their long-time friends and former Nana's employees, Tyler Joplin Vanderzee, Brad Weddington and Graham Weddington.

The restaurant boasts a beautiful corner location with abundant natural light. It was designed and built by Jack Moore of Gateway Building Company. In an homage to Durham's long tobacco history, the bar top and tables are inlaid with real tobacco leaves, artfully crafted by Artisan Leaf. With windows into the kitchen on the exterior of the building and in the dining room, passerby's and diners alike can enjoy a rare glimpse into the heart of the restaurant.

Chef/Owner Scott Howell cookingChef-Owner Scott Howell can still be spotted delivering dishes to tables in his signature uniform: chef whites, shorts and ball cap. Trained at the Culinary Institute of America, he brought his curiosity, energy and his genteel manners to the New York culinary world.  After graduating from CIA, his quest for culinary perfection led him to italy where he worked for a year at the prestigious San Domenico. In 1990, after experiences at famous restaurants in New York, he followed his heart back to North Carolina where he was the sous chef for a year and a half under acclaimed chef Ben Barker at Magnolia Grill. In 1992 the dream of owning his own restaurant came true with the opening of Nana’s.
